Scissor Lift Unique Mechanisms
Every single one of our Scissor Lifts are built in-house at Hoffman Manufacturing. A scissor lift uses linked, folding supports in a criss-cross ‘X’ pattern, also known as a pantograph, to extend. This extension is achieved by applying pressure to the outside set of supports on one side of the scissor lift. This causes the mechanism to elongate the crossing pattern within. This movement can be achieved through hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, or muscular means. In order to return to it’s original, compact position, it requires no power, but simply a release of pressure will shorten the mechanism, causing it to fold upon itself again.
Our scissor lifts are specifically designed with an extremely robust feature, to withstand the rigors of underground mining. The scissor arms are heavy duty rectangular tubing with machined bushings and hardened 4140 pivot pins. These are connected to the 3.5” diameter lift cylinders, which are welded cylinders with build in load holding valves, for added operator safety. Hoffman scissor lifts utilize electric over hydraulic controls, with a foot switch and a hand held pendant located in the platform. The pivot locations within the scissor lifts are easily accessible and greasable, to give you ease of control.
Customizable Options are available
We now offer ground level lift controls, for added safety. Our scissor lifts also feature a platform gate with a spring loaded latch, and platform tie-off points.
In addition to all of these safety features that come with every scissor lift purchased from Hoffman Manufacturing, you also have the option to add Heavy Duty stabilizer cylinders with load holding valves, if you want added security.
